Pennant race
The Atlanta braves are in the run for a pennant race in their division. This is something that they have not done scine 2005. 2005 was also the ending to their run of fourteen divisional tittles in a row. The braves are trying to win the wold seris for Bobby Cox this season because this is his last year as a braves manager. He is hall of fame bound and lokking to get Atlanta its second world seris victory. I hope the braves can pull it off.
Derrek Lee
On the day of august 18, 2010 1st baseman Derrek Lee was traded to the Atlanta braves. This will put a big bat into the lineup which helps because Chipper Jones is out for the season. Derrek Lee was playing for the cubs and was on a losing club but now he is on a first place team. Many people are very happy about the trade.In my opinion it was a great trade to make because it only cost us three minor league prospects.Hopfuly he will contribute a lot.

Mike Minor
On the night of August 17,2010 Mike Minor made his first MLB start at home and won! Imagine being in his shoes. After the game Mike was not hit in the face with a pie, but got showered with beer. I can't remember a time when they did that. Mike has now won the same games as Kichin Kawacomy. With Medlen also out of AAA and having a great season until he had his injury, it just shows how good Atlanta's bullpen can be. We will see how good Minor pitches next time around.
Falcon/patriots
The Atlanta falcons were scheduled to play the New England patriots on August 17, 2010 at a high school field. Atlanta found out about what the patriots were really trying to do. The patriots were trying to tape the falcons plays so they could go over them at a team meeting later. Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez quoted"Like spy gate" when he was told about the situation. Matt Ryan was not concerned about the situation because they were "average" play that any team would use. This is not the first time the patriots have done this and this time let hope this time they get punished.

Chipper Jones
Hi my name is Nick Ireland and I want to talk to you about how the Atlanta braves plan on getting to the playoffs this season. On August,11,2010 vs. the Houston astros Chipper Jones (third basemen on the Atlanta braves) sustained a torn acl during the game. Chipper Jones will be out for the rest of the season and his career is on the line. This is a big blow to the braves because if they get to the playoffs they won't have one of their stars. Chipper Jones replacement Brookes Conrad will help heal the wound for Atlanta because he is a great all around player. Only fate will tell us if this will make a difference for the Atlanta brave's chances.
